Streamcheck announced today the start of a private beta program for its groundbreaking service. The Streamcheck service is the first distributed measurement system for streaming media delivery. Content owners can now obtain real-time, objective data revealing how audiences experience their content.
"We are thrilled to be announcing the opening of this program, which is the final step before full commercialization of our service. The response to our invitations to participate has far exceeded our expectations." said Shai Berger, Streamcheck's president and co-founder.
Streamcheck collects data from a network of "Scanners", machines with software that mimics exactly the behavior of a streaming media user. The Scanner network has been operating and collecting data for several months, for internal evaluation. Now, twelve companies representing a cross-section of content owners, service providers and equipment vendors will be testing the Streamcheck system with real-world applications.
"We expect to launch the service to the general public in early September", said Berger.
