The Scanner Appliance
|

|

|
The Scanner Appliance is a self-contained unit that works with the Streamcheck
system to measure the quality of streaming media delivery. The Scanner Appliance
runs software developed by Streamcheck which mimics the behavior of a streaming
media end-user.
By installing Scanner Appliances, customers can take measurements from the precise
network nodes that best represent their streaming infrastructure. These measurements
can be combined with Streamcheck's existing Scanner teams or used separately.

Hosted service
|

|

|
For applications that require Scanners inside a private network or at specialized locations,
users can deploy Scanner appliances as appropriate and use the Streamcheck back-end as a hosting
service (i.e. as an ASP). The diagram below illustrates this arrangement.
Note that it is possible to combine data from internal and external Scanners.
In either case, the data is collected, analyzed and stored by Streamcheck. Users access the
data through the same web interface, also hosted by Streamcheck.
The Scanners are controlled and maintained remotely by Streamcheck.
Thus this approach provides a fully turn-key solution to specialized monitoring
situations. Setup requires only placement of the Scanners in the appropriate locations
followed by power and a network connections.

Full system installation
|

|

|
Another approach to specialized monitoring is to create a fully local installation. In this case,
an installable version of the Streamcheck back-end (with scheduling software, analysis software,
database and web interface) is delivered as customer premise equipment (CPE).
The diagram below illustrates this arrangement.
Key advantages to this approach includes complete independence from Streamcheck, and the ability
to configure Scanners at will.

System licensing
|

|

|
Lastly, Streamcheck's end-to-end software solution is available for licensing.
With this approach, the user has the most complete level of control over integration and deployment.
Licensing may be appropriate if integration with existing back-end systems is required.
